Description

The Aquila Rayon 900 Basses are the closest synthetic modern reproduction of the wound silk basses for historical guitar available today.

Before 1950 bass strings for the classical guitar used silk for the core instead of nylon. The sound produced by silk is complex and unique, differing significantly from the typical bass strings made from multifilament nylon cores in modern times, however the use of silk being a natural material can be problematic and can often suffer from issues caused by changes in humidity leading to instability, intonation problems and string wear resulting in breakage.

During Aquila’s extensive research on a wide range of new and innovative materials, a special red coloured multifilament called ‘Rayon’ was discovered which possesses the same acoustic properties as silk but does not suffer the natural irregularities and other issues that make historical basses fashioned from silk so delicate.

Aquila’s Rayon 900 classical basses are the same basses used in the Aquila Ambra 900 sets and strike the perfect balance between metal and core enabling them to exactly recreate the typical sound of a silk wound bass string in a modern synthetic material.

Pack contains 3 Classical Guitar Basses Only – E, A, D

Note – Rayon 900 basses are also used on the Ambra 2000 normal tension set as well as the Ambra 900 set.

Please Note – This is not a full set of classical guitar strings.
