Description

Up to the middle of the 20th century, the only available strings for guitar were plain gut for the trebles and wound on silk core for the basses. Their acoustical performance was quite different than that of modern synthetic strings.

The main characteristics of these gut strings was a marked tonal presence, response and brightness unique to the trebles, while the basses possessed an exquisite vocal quality being not so bright, with less sustain and more fundamentally heavy than miodern wound on nylon strings.

The Ambra 2000 set was developed to best re-create these attributes by means of modern synthetic materials.

The new and improved version of Aquila’s Ambra 2000 strings now come in two tensions, medium and light and consist of Nylgut trebles, each with a slightly different formulation to achieve superb results along with with Aquila’s new Rayon basses, constructed from silvered copper wires wound around a red coloured multifilament core.

The unique balance of wire and core ensure Ambra 2000’s provide a warm and deep percussive sound, similar to silk basses.

The presence of more low frequencies from the Rayon basses ensure better projection as soundwaves absorb over distance throughout the concert hall.
