Description

Aquila Ambra 900 – Aquila’s synthetic version of their Gut & Silk 900 strings

Up to the middle of the 20th century, the only available strings for guitar were plain gut for the trebles and wound on silk core for the basses. Their acoustical performance was quite different than that of modern synthetic strings.

Their main characteristics were a marked tonal presence, response and brightness typical of the gut strings, while the basses on the other hand, possessed an exquisite vocal quality i.e not so bright and with less sustain than modern wound on nylon strings, and more fundamentally heavy.

The Ambra 900 set was developed keeping these historical facts in mind.

In order to best re-create by means of modern synthetic materials, the sound of these times. Each set consists of gut coloured Super Nylgut trebles with a rectified surface adopting the representative mean diameters as indicated by Pujol in his ‘Escuela Razonada De La Guitarra’ from 1934. The basses of the Ambra 900 set are comprised of silver plated copper winding over a special multifilament ‘Rayon’ core. The special Rayon multifilament offers a unique and specific balance between metal and core, achieving the same texture of sound found in the original silk wound strings of the era.

Recreate the sound of historical times with the Aquila Ambra 900 classical guitar set with Rayon basses.
